Cheek Fat Reduction
Full cheeks are sign of youth but too much fat in the cheeks can give a so-called “chipmunk” look. Often this can occur early in life and often will not melt away with exercise and diet alone. Buccal lipectomy is an outpatient procedure to remove this unwanted fat.

Who is a candidate for this procedure?
Patients who have an excess of cheek fat will have too much fullness in the cheeks which often give a round, full face that can disguise the natural contour of the cheekbones. Dr. Patel will be able to tell when he examines you if that fullness is due to buccal fat accumulation.

How is the surgery performed?
Through small incisions placed inside the mouth, a conservative amount of fat is removed. Incisions are closed with absorbable sutures.

What can I expect after surgery?
This is an outpatient procedure. A soft diet is necessary in the first week to aid healing. Bruising and swelling is minimal. No suture removal is required.
